About the Journal

The Baghdad Journal of Biochemistry and Applied Biological Sciences (BJBABS) is an open-access journal that provides free access to readers, who do not require authentication or any cost for reading or downloading articles from the journal. All content is distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0). This permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original author and source are credited.

-The peer-reviewed International Journal, BJ-BABS, was launched to provide a platform for the publication of original research, reviews and short communications on all fields of:

- Biochemistry (Analytical, Reproductive, Cardiovascular, Thrombosis, Hemostasis, and Neonatal). 

-Genetics and Molecular Biology.

- Clinical Biochemistry.

-Translational Medicine- linking bench (lab research) to bedside (clinical practice). 

- Agricultural and Biological Sciences.

- Molecular Biotechnology.

- Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Pharmaceutics.

The goal of the journal is to disseminate knowledge concerning the biochemical and molecular basis of health and disease.

The focus will be on disease diagnostics, experimental models, and molecular methods like PCR, electrophoresis, and gene expression, as well as enzyme assays. BJ-BABS aims to publish work with clinical relevance and welcomes innovative studies employing biochemical techniques to address health and environmental challenges.

Authors publishing in BJ-BABS retain the copyright of their work.

All articles get published under the International Creative Commons Attribution License (CC- BY 4.0).

BJ-BABS does not share the authors' private details. Any names and email addresses that are entered on the site of the journal are going to be used for the purpose that is specified by the journal only, with no other use or other parties having access.

The journal follows international laws on data protection and stores authors' data securely. The data will never be given to a third party without consent.

- BJ-BABS is indexed and was a member of DOAJ and COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).

- BJ-BABS  follows the COPE ethical guidelines. It also assures and maintains a high standard of publication ethics. Also, BJ-BABS  monitors plagiarism, peer review transparency, and conflict of interest disclosure.

Lastly, BJ-BABS guarantees the long-term savings of its materials through:

- Portico, in that all items are digitally archived with Portico, a leading preservation service which ensures content will be stored and retrievable in the case of catastrophic data loss.

- Furthermore, the journal uses the PKP PN (Public Knowledge Project Preservation Network) for additional archiving help.

 The Baghdad Journal of Biochemistry and Applied Biological Sciences (BJ-BABS) would like to inform all authors and contributors that starting from 15 August 2025, the Journal will charge an Article Processing Charge (APC) as stated on the Journal’s website. The purpose of this policy is to maintain the high editorial and publishing standards and cover the costs of:

• Plagiarism Checking while maintaining research integrity.

• Tools to detect AI misuse in academic writing.

• We provide language editing services for all your manuscripts that need language improvements.
