Review policy
Review policy:
The BJ-BABS operates a double-blind peer-review process. Both the identity of the reviewer and that of the author remain hidden from one another during the review process.
The goal of the approach is to lessen bias since the reviewers will not see the identity of the authors and vice versa. The Editor-in-Chief first evaluates all manuscripts. Papers excluded at this stage fail to make a novel contribution, feature serious scientific flaws, are poorly written and/or in bad English, or fall outside the aims and scope of the journal.
Only reviewers suited to the paper are selected for it. Our database is constantly being updated. The reviewers’ reports will take into consideration whether the manuscript is scientifically sound and coherent, whether it duplicates work already published, and whether or not the manuscript is sufficiently clear for publication.
The originality and importance of the manuscript will also be evaluated by the reviewers.
The Editor-in-Chief makes the last decision on the manuscript based on reviewers’ evaluations and editors’ recommendations.
Reviewers are selected based on their qualifications for the subject of the manuscript. The editorial office will contact each potential reviewer individually and ask them for comments within a timed window, usually 2 weeks. Reviewers have been given instructions to follow during the review. According to these guidelines, reviewers should strive to be fair and constructive regarding their reviews.
Also, when any conflicts of interest arise, they should declare them before agreeing to review any submission. If the editor directs the authors to make major or minor revisions, they are expected to submit the revised version within their specified time.
At the Editor’s discretion, the revised manuscript may go back to the original reviewers or be sent to new reviewers.
Authors have the right to appeal editorial decisions. Appeals should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief via:
biochemistry.journal@nahrainuniv.edu.iq
or
editor@bjbabs.org
and should provide detailed reasons for the appeal.
